Being a Graduate at BMRB

Your Development

As a new graduate trainee - research, you will take part in our Graduate Development Programme which is spread over two years. The Programme covers three main areas, market research training, practical experience and mentoring. The whole programme is designed to give you a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of market research.

Market Research Training

Our commitment to training has been recognised by the Market Research Society (MRS). They are using our programme as the pilot for company-based development, which leads to full MRS membership.

Year 1

Year one provides a broad introduction to research, training in the use of technology and relevant applications. It will give you the opportunity to develop the personal effectiveness skills needed in a business environment.

Year 2

The second year training provides an in-depth understanding of research techniques and helps you to develop your client facing skills.

Practical Experience

In addition to the thorough training that we provide, there is opportunity to gain a broad range of practical research experience. From day one, you will be working with a team of experienced researchers on live assignments. Please browse through our website to get a feel for the types of work we cover. There may be the opportunity to do adhoc secondments if you wish.

BMRB places a strong emphasis on continuing professional development, after all that's how we stay ahead. At the end of the two years you are free to take advantage of opportunities for secondment to other units or even to other companies within the WPP group worldwide, of which BMRB is a part. You are free to apply for permanent jobs within other units and are encouraged to speak openly about how you see your career progressing. Quite often we beat you to it and ask you to broaden your skills further in varied and different assignments.

Mentoring

It's important for you to have someone within the business to take a special interest in your development. Managers, often people who have been through the Graduate Development programme themselves, volunteer to take on this role. They are there to discuss training issues, ensure your work experience is meaningful, and to help deal with any other issues which stop you getting the most out of the programme.

As a graduate trainee you will be expected to take responsibility for your own development and to make the most of the many opportunities for learning available to you. With the guidance and support you require from your manager, trainers and colleagues, the opportunities for success in BMRB are limited only by your own ambition, ability and commitment to continuing development.

In a merit based culture your career progression will continue through Senior Research Executive, to Associate Director and beyond.
