Continuing Professional Development

We are committed to helping employees advance in their career and we encourage staff to use every opportunity to do so.

Our Continuing Professional Development culture (CPD) enables staff to identify development needs and review the effect of any training received. CPD widens opportunities for learning and in turn staff can contribute even more effectively to the success of the company.

The essential principles of CPD are:

  • Development should be continuous in the sense that people should always be seeking new learning opportunities
  • Development should be owned and managed by the individual
  • Learning objectives should be clear and serve company needs as well as personal goals
  • Regular investment of time in learning should be seen as an essential part of professional life, not an optional extra
  • The most important aspect of CPD is the outcome, not the precise amount of input

Each individual should have their own development plan which identifies CPD needs in their existing role, and where appropriate within possible future roles.

Career development is taken seriously at BMRB. At CPD reviews individuals discuss their career aspirations with their manager to identify the knowledge, skill and experience needed for them to progress. Personal development plans record how these needs will be met.

Our commitment to individual growth and career development is an integral part of our overall business strategy, which has been made a stated business objective:

'We want to create a supportive learning environment where talented individuals share their expertise, thrive through their contribution to the success of the Company, and help to create their own futures, through continued organisational growth and diversity of opportunity worldwide.'
