Help find the answers to society’s big questions

Associate and Senior Associate Directors at BMRB Social Research Competitive salary in line with experience, plus excellent benefits package.

How can parents be encouraged to get more involved in their child’s education? How should childhood obesity be tackled? How do people really want to interact with government? How can people be encouraged to give up smoking? How should food labels be designed to help people to make informed choices?

These are some of the questions that our research tries to answer. BMRB conducts some of the government’s most stimulating and challenging research, addressing the biggest issues facing society today. Our researchers work on a variety of fascinating projects, requiring thoughtful and creative approaches, using high quality resources, in a supportive, informal environment with a strong team culture.

We are looking to appoint experienced researchers to the roles outlined below to support our specialist teams in continuing to attract and deliver research that matters. To succeed in one of these roles you will need to be a strong quantitative researcher, with a track record in business development and a real aptitude for interpreting and communicating research findings. You will need excellent client service skills and a talent for managing projects and developing people. Social research experience is important for the social surveys roles. For the customer insight and campaign evaluation roles, a proven track record in these disciplines is more important than specific experience of government research.

Associate or Senior Associate Director, Customer Insight Team

Our customer insight team is at the cutting edge of the delivery of research and insight to support the government’s service transformation agenda. With sister company Henley Centre Headlight Vision, we are a founding partner in the Institute for Insight in the Public Services (http://www.theiips.com) and work closely with senior insight and policy colleagues in Whitehall to address service transformation issues. We are now looking for someone to join the team who can look beyond the data, and help us uncover real insight that could transform public sector service delivery. Reporting to the head of the team, the role will involve business development and delivery of projects for clients across government.

Associate or Senior Associate Director, Campaign Evaluation Team

Our campaign evaluation team specialises in social marketing, evaluating government campaigns and behaviour change programmes in areas such as childhood obesity, smoking, climate change and road safety. We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm for this area who is comfortable delivering insight and recommendations that clients can use to develop communication strategies. Reporting to the head of the team, the role will involve business development and delivery of projects for clients across government.

Associate or Senior Associate Director, Social Surveys Teams

Specialising in large-scale, high profile social surveys, these teams undertake a number of the Government’s flagship surveys, including the British Crime Survey, the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England and The National Survey of Culture, Leisure and Sport, as well as a wide range of ad hoc studies across the policy spectrum. Reporting to a Director, you will be responsible for developing business and leading project teams. Experience in education or personal finance research would be desirable, but, above all, we are looking for really high calibre researchers who will enhance our already excellent reputation in this field.

To apply please send your CV to with a cover letter stating why you are suitable for the role you are applying for.
